Greenhall House, 1960s

This beautiful house is the former Greenhall Mansion house, once located where now the car park is at Greenhall Park. The front door faces across to the sloping field. This is the 1960s. Those south facing garden seats must have received lots of sunshine and are perfectly placed.

The people are known, the photo shared by James Brown. He told me, “This photo was taken by my father mid 60’s just before the house was demolished. That’s my mother, sister and gran in it. My father had a sense of devilment pretending it was their house.”

The house is of course now demolished, this photo a reminder of the County Council’s attitude to old buildings of the time. Like Milheugh House perceiving it more of a maintenance issue, than an asset.
