1921 Greenhall Estate Entrance

Pictured here from 100 years ago in 1921 is the Eastern Entrance to Greenhall Estate at High Blantyre. The photo comes from a sales brochure showing off the estate and its assets. This included the sale of the former lodge house pictured here with its distinctive arched windows.

The pillars, which are still in place make the whole scene still familiar, despite the lodge having been demolished in the late 1960’s. I can’t help but feel, it would have looked better today, had that little lodge house remained. It would have made a fantastic little shop or Tourist Information centre in Summertime!
