Gordon Cook recently shared this wonderful photo of a Blantyre Tram. I haven’t seen this one before, so hopefully it’s new for you too.
I wasn’t able to work the location out, but I’m suspecting its around the former Priory Bridge tram stop. The treeline matches up pretty well to a photo I recently posted.
As for dates, I think its 1910s or 1920s. These trams look fairly evolved, covered for passengers and with weather protection for the driver. Whatever is going on here, it was a busy day with many passengers on board.
Car 88 was built in 1925 and car 45 was built in 1906. Car 88 is known to have been used on the route through to Newmains.
