Children’s Rhymes – Part 5

1910s Auchentibber Gardens

A last wee look (for now) at some children’s rhymes from times gone by. Hope you may remember some of these?

Murder Murder….
Murder murder Polis, three stairs up,
A wummin in the middle door, hit me wae a cup,
Ma heids aw bleedin, ma nose is aw cut.
Murder, Murder Polis, three stair up.

Not Last Night…..
Not last night, but the night before,
Three wee beggars came tae the door,
Wan wae a hammer, wan wae a drum,
An Wan wae a pancake stuck tae his bum

Oor Wee Jeannie….
Oor wee Jeannie had a nice clean peenie,
Guess what colour it was…pink.
P-I-N-K spells pink.
O-U-T spells out.

How wid ye like tae be me…
How wid ye like tae be me,
Goin’ tae a penny soiree,
a lump o fat, stuck in ma hat,
how wid ye like tae be me.

The Auld Brown Coo….
The auld brown coo went poop against the wall,
The auld brown coo went poop against the wall,
Till ye couldnae see the wall doe poop, poop, poop!

Pictured in the 1910’s are some spectators at the Auchentibber Quoiting Ground. Kids out to watch fathers and brothers taking part in the games.
