The Old Milheugh Bridge

This may not be immediately recognisable, but it is the old Milheugh stone bridge (the one before the current one) at the Calder. A beautiful, old stone bridge much in scale to the modern one spanning the Rotten Calder River. This is the bottom of the Pech Brae, the sharp bend leading up Lindsay Hill to Malcolmwood.

The little path leading in to the riverbank, now 100 years later is not present anymore and if you look closely, you’ll see the demolished mill fragments, lying on the riverside. A mill once existed built in the 1700s where roughly the photographer is standing.

This does look quite different today and for what it’s worth, i think i prefer this more peaceful, sleepy scene.
