Look at this beastie! A friend of mine was alarmed when her child ran in screaming. This was the sight that confronted her! An unusual creature, winged with a strange body.
It was still alive and though they trapped it in a large glass jar, it was released safely later that day. After some research online, it appears this is a Hawk Moth. Just about big enough to sit in the palm of your hand, these unusual insects are best represented in the tropics but can be found in the UK too. They’re big and its no wonder it raised an eyebrow or two!
