It’s been a long time since there were cobbled streets on Blantyre’s main thoroughfares, but at one time, several parts of Glasgow Road were cobbled. Over a hundred years ago, significant areas of Glasgow Road had hardstandings like this around the tram stops and at public crossing points at junctions.
Back to the present though. This wee lane is still cobbled, one of the few areas of Blantyre still with this old feature. But where is it? Answers revealed tonight.
