Some photos from Cath McInally’s album. I think these photos are dated from Millennium to around 2005 or so. Cathy is pictured being deservedly awarded community awards and there are some well known faces in there, including Cllr Handibode and current Cllr Bert Thomson.
In the photo with the rosebowl presentation, members of High Blantyre Women’s Guild celebrated their silver anniversary in 2005 at a civic reception hosted by South Lanarkshire Council.
Provost Mushtaq Ahmed presented an engraved rosebowl to Guild chairperson Agnes Johnstone to mark the occasion. The guild was created around 1980 by a group of friends who met as a result of taking their children and grandchildren to the Jack Horner Playgroup. It was quickly considered a significant fundraiser by the local community having supported various charities, appeals and care centres.
