Our next colourised photo is from 1913 and a familiar scene at Bothwell Bridge. Before lots of cars or buses, busy trams trundle over the old bridge going between Hamilton and Bothwell. These were not directly linked to Blantyre trams, though you would have to change at Hamilton.
This photo is nice and clear given it’s 107 years old, the colour adding to the whole scene, bringing it to life. These were days before the lido was set out. To the left is Bothwell and the photo was taken from the Blantyre side of the River Clyde. The flat open fields of Raith behind the bridge, now such a busy interchange.
