This photo may not be much to look at, but the scene is incredibly changed today. Taken in 1977, it shows the former Dixons Bing at Larkfield, just before being levelled. The road is Broompark Road, with Eddie Collins ‘supermarket’ and bakey seen clearly.
High Blantyre Primary School would be out the picture to the right, Glenfruin Road out the picture to the left. The photo was taken just in front of the old smiddy, not far from todays entrance to Swinburne Avenue. In the far background, the former large house at the corner of Springfield Crescent can be seen.
