In June 1967, local football team Blantyre Thistle won the Fourth Division Championship. It was their first year in the Lanarkshire Amateur Football League. The Championship trophy was handed over at the Parkville by Boxer Walter McGowan (middle) to team Captain Billy Kelly (right).
