1910’s Auchentibber Terraces

Another crystal clear photo of Auchentibber, from over 100 years ago!

We’re back inside Auchentibber Gardens, this photo from the 1910’s taken from the Quoiting Green looking eastwards. Photographer was David Ritchie.

Outwith the quoiting green, beyond the neat, white picket fences, was an elevated walkway offering a beautiful vantage point to observe the sports. Ornamental planters positioned all along the small embankment, with wooden seats. The trellis frame in later years were covered with ivy and climbing flowers, offering shade in summer.

Today, this is all woodland, but it IS still possible to see the elevated earthworks, if you go behind the Auchentibber War Memorial and peek into the woods.

Just imagine what a day out up there would have been like!
