2000 David Livingstone Bridge

The newly completed David Livingstone Bridge back in 2000. The bridge was completed in 1999. Everything looking pretty new, including the concrete abutments.

This, the current bridge, is the 3rd bridge over the River Clyde at Blantyre Works, since the mid 19th Century.

Featuring Blantyre Project Social Media with permission. Strictly not for use by others on or offline, our visitors said:

Jim Cochrane It’s badly needing maintained, loads of paint flaking off and the pavement coating getting worn thru to the metal. If it’s let go much longer it will start to rust badly.
Blantyre Project and i thought the previous bridge wasn’t built to last!
Alan Baird wont be long till we are talking about the 4th bridge but id rather be talking about the new bridge down at millheugh
