Lone figure at Calderwoodglen Halt

1920s Calderwoodglen Halt person

A lone figure stands at a former station, high up above Crossbasket.

This is the former station, essentially a railway platform at the little known, Calderwoodglen Halt. A train stop for passengers over 100 years ago to alight and walk  down past Crossbasket to Stoneymeadow then up to Calderglen Castle. This embankment can still be seen from the back windows of Crossbasket, the former line now removed, that once led from East Kilbride into High Blantyre over the Greenhall pillars.

A figure stands by the little gate that led train passengers and tourists down the hillside path.
