What an amazing month December has been for raising funds for Blantyre good causes. Today, we were able to pass Blantyre Telegraph a whopping £405 guaranteed royalties from sales of 121 books running up to and throughout the festive period! December book sales are always far higher than the rest of the year, but this really was a record breaking month indeed! Thank you to everybody who bought books as gifts for Christmas! Wonderful!
Every penny raised will go to Blantyre good causes, as always. The intention is for it to be spent as follows:
£265 to be donated to the 2019 Blantyre Summer Gala Weekend
£60 for raffle prizes in the Noel Charity Lunch
£45 for new donation buckets (to expand donations all over Blantyre)
£25 donation to David Livingstone Trust Crowdfunder to buy Magic Lantern slide for museum.
£10 donation to High Blantyre Christmas Fayre Raffle
Blantyre Telegraph has had a cracking month too, raising much more than this (see that page for details later today).
Let’s not forget also that this website also received donations totalling a whopping further £375 this month all knowingly provided towards requests to cover our domain, hosting services, ancestry subscriptions, newspaper archive and Scotlandsplaces subscriptions! In other words, 34 readers kindly donated next years entire running costs, normally incurred personally by myself! It was a little Christmas miracle, completely unexpected, amazingly kind and warmly appreciated.
We’re all ready here for LOADS of interesting history, fully subscribed to everything we need to provide that to you all for FREE. Wishing everybody here all the best for the remainder of the holiday season.
