Thank you to Norma Matt who shared these 2 photos of the former Calderside Cottage. Norma told me, “My great uncle James Downie was born in that cottage in 1885 so the structure is definitely older than that. The story in my family is that there is a rock near the cottage that my uncle carved his initials (JD) in when he was a young man. It is still there.”
