Remembering Sacrifice

This Sunday is Remembrance Day throughout the length and breadth of the country. The special day will result in communities all over coming together to remember those who died in the terrible conflicts over the years. Remembering those who sacrificed themselves for others.

The poppy has become associated with remembrance. It was chosen by war veterans in 1921 because of its association with the ‘Flanders fields’, where so many people perished in the battles of World War One.

Since then, it has become a poignant and powerful emblem of the cost and folly of war.
