Silver Gilt Award
Blantyre has everything to be proud of today after picking up a Silver gilt award at last night’s 2018 ‘Beautiful Scotland Awards’ in Haddington.
The award was in the ‘Large Town’ Category, and there was some tough competition!
The application was spearheaded by Bonnie Blantyre and involved showcasing the work of many excellent community groups over the last few years. The application focused on Horitculture and environment.
Blantyre Project played a small part by representing our heritage and history. I was thrilled to see that aspect scoring 10/10 on the scoresheets, judges clearly impressed by all that Blantyre Project provides to the community, its longevity and publications. I was gutted at having to turn down my invite due to work commitments.
However, the day belonged to all the groups COLLECTIVELY who won the accolade, with many other high scores. It’s amazing to see what can be accomplished when all organisations work together to benefit Blantyre as a whole! With thanks to Bonnie Blantyre, Blantyre Community Committee, TACT Healthy Park, Blantyre Telegraph and Blantyre Community Council for putting Blantyre back on the map! Here’s to next year!

A long wait but a superb outcome. Congratulations to every participant and thanks for all your time, financial/material resources and hard work. BE PROUD BLANTYRE.
I am happy for you all.
