St Joseph’s School Brick

Imprinted on it was “Blantyre Ferme”, fairly good evidence that the school was built using bricks from the relatively nearby former brickworks. I wonder just how many public buildings and homes were built with these bricks?

Kevin M. Creechan I remember seeing that on the school gates on Park Lane. Some of the concrete topping were lifted off the wall revealing this on some of the bricks.
Brian Mackenzie That’s right Kevin M. Creechan…. it was next to paul goodfellows finger tip he lost on the gate ☝🏻😂

Kevin M. Creechan Oh wow I remember that! 👈😵👉

Richard Lees I’m lucky to have one also + another which says Greenhall High Blantyre.
Marian Maguire Was this from Blantyre ferme pit.

  1. We have a few of these bricks but then we are very close to where the brick works used to be.
