1979 Blantyre Beauty

Screen Shot 2018-07-04 at 13.32.11Beauty contests were “all the rage” in the 1970’s. In 1979, the Hamilton Advertiser ran a beauty competition and a Blantyre lass was shortlisted.

Dawn Inglis is pictured here holding a cat, which is no surprise considering her father owned 2 pets shops in Hamilton. Dawn was 19 years old in this picture and working then as a clerk in the Hamilton Building Society. I’m told her pet cat was named Lucifer, and the one previous to that, Satan! Perhaps she had a devil of a time looking after them.

Do you know where Dawn is today?
