Built in 1979, it came at the right time for Blantyre families who had just witnessed the closure of well known hardware shops on Glasgow Road.

John Daly WoW! Now that is a blast from the past. Me.

Blantyre Project lol. i thought so too, when i saw it. I loved going to Dodge City. I’d never seen anything like it before.

John Daly It was a veritable cornucopia of “stuff”. Just “stuff”.

Gordon Frew Was it them that had a checkerboard entrance? Used to jump on them like a game of draughts with my sister 😀

Eleanor Connor Yep ! 😂😂😂😂

Gord Fotheringham Remember when my brother and I went to buy a fluorescent light fixture for my sisters kitchen….could not believe the price….four times the price we pay in Canada….ouch

Alison Glen Ann Innes remember we wrote to our local MP to complain when Dodge City was being built? This land was our wildlife playground and we were concerned the wildlife was going to become homeless. The site is now being developed for luxury housing.

Ann Innes I remember Dodge City but hadn’t actually remembered writing to the MP! I remember climbing walls to get into the tiny strip of no man’s land between the back of the houses and the boundary fence, but was a lot more scared of beasties getting in my hair back then than I am these days!

John Bulloch Mount Vernon became the main store around here for plumbing and heating

Andy Lynch No wonder Walter Batters and Cornes went out of business

Emma-Louise Hay Cornes DIY has a large store in East Kilbride. Beside the village theatre.

William Andrew McMahon Still remember the advert song ” I’m goin’ to Dodge city, where else can you get it all!” I’m sure it had a huge chest freezer full of ice creams to keep us troublesome children happy.

Gary Morrison Nicking over there in the Datsun ..

Jim McGuire God remember ma dad dragging me along for loover doors no buses went near us back then . Funny enough no feckin buses go bye now lol
