Clydeview East – End of an Era

IMG_4912Contractors have as of Saturday 14th July 2018, entirely screened off the Eastern block of the Clydeview Shopping Centre, in preparation for forthcoming demolition.

As of this week, the 9 foot, white boarded perimeter has been extended and now completely surrounds the doomed properties, which many people in Blantyre will be glad to see the back of.

All previous businesses on that side of the shopping centre, have now either moved or closed.

The shopping centre didn’t even last 40 years and it truly is the end of this era. However, we can look forward to welcoming in a brighter future, with nicer, modern buildings and multiple units, which hopefully will have affordable rents to avoid the mistakes of the past. The properties are owned by ASDA.

With the public completely screened off, stripping out and making safe the building is currently ongoing ahead of demolition.
