Pictured at Boathouse, near Blantyreferme are 4 generations of the same family. From the left, is Christina Brown (nee Braid), her mother Jessie Braid holding Chris Ford, daughter of Katie Ford (nee Brown) standing right, who was married to Andrew Ford jnr.
Christina, left married market Gardener Arch Brown in 1875. It was this family who worked hard and saw Boathouse prosper properly as a market garden business selling fruits and flowers.
