Michael Barrett has shared these photos from the 1980’s of the inside of RG Barret’s Garage workshop at 19 Church Street. A nice photo too of how the outside of the building once looked. The painted block and brick walls, loads of machinery and equipment for auto repairs.
According to my notes, this workshop was built in 1912 by William Adam junior, a joiner and builder based at High Blantyre. The workshop was built around 6 years after Mr Walter Batters built many adjacent homes on Church Street.
