1897 Bothwell Castle

1897-bothwell-castle-wmThis great photo was taken in 1897. Of course we’re looking at Bothwell Castle ruins at the bend in the River Clyde, a scene which really hasn’t changed much since then.

A girl stands in the foreground with a walking stick, or perhaps fishing rod on the Bothwell side of the river. There once was a river crossing here. The trees are very much higher now, with far less riverside space to walk.
