It gives me great pleasure to be able to give the people of Blantyre an exclusive insight into an exciting project about to commence in Blantyre, which sees perhaps the most significant investment in Blantyre in recent years.
Announcing
Barry, John and Philomena Carrigan, owners of John Carrigans in Broompark Road, Blantyre, are about to invest over £3million in upgrading and providing the most exclusive pub and restaurant in Blantyre. You may have noticed earthworks at Larkfield which will soon see construction work start on Phase 1 of Blantyre’s newest and most fine pub, which looks likely to be aptly renamed as “Carrigan’s Blantyre”. Carrigans was established in 1991 nearly 25 years ago and has had a few name changes over the years. Serving quality food since 1979, people in Blantyre have become accustomed to the great food with generous portions, affordable prices and friendly, efficient staff. This amazing new pub looks certain to take this all to the next, exciting level.
Phase 1 The Restaurant.
The Carrigan’s vision is pictured as attached, which as you can see will be a considerably larger building that the current “John Carrigans”. Phase 1 will see the first half of the new building commence next week (end April 2015) with the building of a luxurious 130 seat restaurant which will have free wi-fi and feature wood burning log stoves, providing some winter warmth in a beautiful and comfortable setting. To be tastefully decorated with some Scottish themes, having seen the layout, I can confirm there are plans for private booths, many tables, a wonderful conservatory and even a private room for small parties. This part of the building will also have a huge kitchen over 101m2 and Barry confirmed to me that a fantastic Head chef has already been secured, somebody trusted who has worked with the Carrigan family for many years providing the great food products we know today. This new part of the building will also eventually have a deli counter and coffee shop inside, providing a means for local people in the area to have lunches and takeaways.
During the phase 1 work, the existing pub will remain open always putting customers first. The construction work will be very respectful of the nearby school and should not affect nearby residents, with standard working hours likely. As pictured, cars will enter on the right side of the building and the back will see a brand new, one way carpark that can accommodate 50 cars built adjacent to the Larkfield bing.
Building on the trusted, excellent service that exists today, the family are hoping to source local labour adding to their existing dedicated workforce. This will bring employment for around 50 people in the local area. I’m sure the existing staff must be most excited about this prospect. Indeed, Barry and his family, as an local independent family run business will be working “hands on” along with the staff in this exciting venture. Phase 1 is expected to be complete in early 2016.
Phase 2 The Pub and Function Rooms
As if all this is not exciting enough, Phase 2 scheduled to commence in 2016 will see the footprint of the building almost doubled. Following Christmas and New Year 2015//2016, plans are to entirely demolish the existing John Carrigans pub (formerly Finbarrs and the Manhatten). During this period of construction , customers will of course be able to continue enjoying their drinks in the newly built Phase 1 restaurant/bar.
A beautiful new large Sports Bar will be built, connected to the Restaurant. Customers will be able to enjoy the new, larger bar as well as the numerous massive TV screens around the pub. Some customers may also welcome the news that William Hill, the bookmakers will also be based in the building, in their own dedicated shop attached to the pub. Outside smoking areas will be provided, as well as a new beer garden area, landscaped beautifully to provide a scenic retreat in better weather.
Finally, there comes the news that that Phase 2 will also see a brand new, state of the art function suite, providing a large space to accommodate party nights, functions, funerals, weddings and conference facilities.
I believe this investment will be most welcomed in Blantyre and will see our town finally have an incredible venue for entertainment, eating and drinking out. Blantyre is to be spoiled with new pubs in 2016 but personally i think this project is way above the others in terms of quality, design and anticipated excitement. So it is with utmost sincerity, I wish Barry and his family all the very best of luck for his exciting new business project and look forward to being able to update you all further in future.
Thank you sincerely for the Carrigan family choosing to launch this exclusive via Blantyre Telegraph and Blantyre Project.
