A beautiful painting now made available by South Lanarkshire Museums. The scene is Barnhill in 1924 and the artist is none other than Blantyre’s late historian Neil Gordon.
Neil painted the scene in oils in 1973 from a photograph of the same 1924 scene. He donated the painting to Lanarkshire Museum as part of their collection (now South Lanarkshire)
I have a few more original paintings of Blantyre which I will scan and add to the site in due course.
