This photo shows the back of the Wages House, Blantyre Village Works.
I need some help dating this, but it would appear perhaps to be very soon after the Mill buildings were demolished. On the upper left is the back of the Wags Building, the rugged and jagged gable still visible when the remainder of the building was removed. In the background is Shuttle Row and home of David Livingstone’s birthplace.
The likely vantage point is from the Riverside. Perhaps a few people can comment further on the likely date and further history as to why the actual wages building was left, but the remainder of that building removed. Thanks to Gordon Cook for sharing this good copy. (Photo i had was not of a particularly good quality)
