1945 Blantyre YMCA Outing
Catherine MacRury (nee Buchanan) has emailed me this photo of her father, taken in 1945.
She told me, “The picture of the three teenagers was when the boys were on an outing with the YMCA circa 1945. On the left is Tom Ashbridge, a handsome chap in the middle and my father Thomas Buchanan on the right.”
I couldn’t help noticing how smartly dressed the young men were, on a field trip or outing. I can’t imagine Blantyre’s youth of today putting on a shirt and tie for a day out.
