2002 Police Station at Victoria Street

Perhaps one of Blantyre’s most endangered buildings, is The Blantyre Police Station at the corner of Victoria Street and Calder Street. The police station has recently been threatened with downscaling or even full closure, although for no the crisis is averted. Pictured here in 2002 by Robert Stewart, the Station has been mentioned in recent press along with various other Lanarkshire Police Stations, as perhaps being surplus to requirement.

I sincerely hope this iconic building for Blantyre remains for some time yet. It is a lasting symbol of protection for Blantyre residents.
