1955 Brickwork General view at Haughead

Thank you to Alex Rochead for sending these photos of the Brickworks at East Haughead Farm. They all relate to 1955 and not to be confused with the Brickworks that were also nearby inside Blantyreferme Colliery.

The buildings are shown partly constructed, the steel already constructed. The drift mine is shown in the foreground with Blantyreferme road to the right of it.

A conveyor belt took the material straight from the mine, right into the brickworks themselves. With so many Blantyre readers to this website, its hoped there are some people who will remember this building, or even better worked in it and may want to comment!
