I was sad to see this photo shared here with permission from Blantyre man Andrew Thomson. Pictured in early January 2015 is the path at Milheugh leading up the Calder towards Greenhall. With the bridge demolished near the falls, walkers heading to Greenhall, NEED to use this path which has been badly affected by several recent floods of the adjacent River Calder. The erosion is doing some damage and making the path quite unsafe.
Thankfully though, the Friends of the Calder group have the vision and commitment to repair these paths and this path network is part of the planned improvements. The Group are always looking out for new committee members and meet regularly in High Blantyre’s Priestfield Hall.
