According to Roy’s Military map, the entrance to Shott House, High Blantyre was at the centre of the Shott land, rather than accessed from a side or more Westerly entrance.
There is no doubt on this map that the main entrance opened out directly in line where the house is, rather than the current entrance across from modern Ellisland Drive. A later 1859 map shows the current modern configuration with a side road in to Shott Farm, with a separate entrance created for Shott House. This would suggest that at sometime between 1747 and 1859 perhaps for privacy the stone wall was closed over adjacent to the street and a new more sweeping entrance was formed further West.
