A photo now from 1908, previously unpublished on the Net. This is little Kate Ritchie of Broompark Avenue, as photographed by David Ritchie.
Barefoot, Kate stands at the front door of the house and is probably around 3 years old. Holding a makeshift barrow she’s carting her doll, standing in her parent’s kitchen. Incredible to think this photo is over 100 years old.
Kate would be looking out not only to the camera and David, but also out the front door, beyond over to Broompark House (later to be Jopes doctors surgery). The house still exists today and I believe it was the second last
house in Broompark Avenue.
To show the location and in the context of this picture, ive marked up a 1910 map showing the indicated house with a pink dot.
Thanks again to Alex Bowie for sharing such a treasured and delightful photo.
