A first today! A wee jump from Local press to National (on their whats on pages)! http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/whats-on/author-paul-veverka-launch-blantyre-4537741 Will need to get a new photo for the actual launch. I cant remember my hair looking at white as this! lol Seriously though, thanks to Leona Greenan for her reporting.
The article is as follows, “Blantyre author Paul Veverka will officially launch his second book, The Blantyre Project, A Journey in Time 2, at a special event at Blantyre Bowling Club next month. The book will be available from Wednesday, November 26, both on and offline, with anybody attending the event receiving a £3 discount on any purchase.
The Blantyre Project – A Journey in Time 2 is a sequel to the successful first volume, which was shipped to ex-pats in 15 countries worldwide, with a brand new collection of tales, photos, anecdotes and historical information relating to his hometown. It has taken him over a year to write and at 232 pages long with 131 photos it forms the largest book published about Blantyre’s history.
A delighted Paul told the Advertiser this week: “This book has been a true labour of love. The articles have been deeply researched, and at times, I’ve been fortunate enough to make a few discoveries that have been previously long lost in time, which I’d love to share. “I’m most excited at the prospect of adults and children alike learning how our town came to be and taking pride in our wonderful heritage, archiving it for the future.
“Partial profits of this book are being donated to the Haven charity and it’s hoped that with Christmas just around the corner, the book will form an ideal gift for family members and friends”. Paul’s book launch will take place at 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Wednesday, November 26 at Blantyre Bowling Club, 79 Stonefield Road, Blantyre. Entry is free and includes tea and coffee, a one- and-a-half hour history presentation on-screen as well as the chance to be one of the first to snap up a copy of the book. All welcome.”
