Thanks to Alex at Spittal Terrace for sharing these photos with me in early November 2014.

Alex writes, “This may be of interest to you. When I moved to this area about 14 years ago I found the old railway pillars over the Calder near Stoneymeadow Road.We spent a few summer evenings trying to climb them over the next few years but our highpoint was about 15 feet below the top. They have recently been bolted to make them safe for climbing and there are about 15 different routes on them nowadays.Bolting them just takes the adventure away from climbing but young folk don`t want to take the time to learn how to climb safely.I sound like a grumpy old man,eh ?”
