I like this photo. It’s from our family album and pictured in 1917, on the left is my 10 year old grandfather, John Duncan. Also from Blantyre and pictured is the older gentleman, John’s own grandfather, ALSO called John Duncan. So therefore this is my grandfather and my great, great grandfather. It is understood this was taken on a daytrip to Wanlockhead. It’s astonishing to think that when this tranquil and peaceful scene was captured, war in Europe was raging and millions of lives lost.
John lived at Broompark Road at a house called “Enterkin”, which is still there today and now home of a good friend.
