Marion Smith shared this photo with us, saying, “Hi thought i would share this pic with you. Its my grandparents james & martha coulter. My papa worked in the community centre for a great number of years as a caretaker and so well known in the community. He also worked in craigs and commercial bar and drank in craigs bar for years.
My gran also worked in the hoover factory until she retired at 60. They had 10 children Alex, Jim, john, drew, bobby billy , janette, margaret, linda & marilyn. Have lost count how many great grandchildren. All the Coulters in Blantyre are our family . My papa passed away in 2000 and gran 2011 and buried in lesmahagow where my papa was born. They brought up their family in wheatland ave and also passed away there. Their son also jim still resides there. Papa was known as jimmy and often sung the song coulters candy to his grandchildren and a keen organ player. He received an organ on his retirement from the community centre. His pic was in the ham ad at the time with the councillor malcolm waugh.”
Marion is the daughter of their eldest son Alex. The picture was taken on 13th July 1944.
