1934 Miners Welfare Women’s Committee , Calder Street

Thank you to Mary Falco who sent in this photo of the first Women’s Committee to be established at Blantyre Miner’s Welfare  at Calder Street, Blantyre. Her gran Mary Muir, is the last person on the right.

The Welfare Institute was established in Blantyre just a few years before in 1928 with the social club being opened in 1960, the Bowling Club in 1964 and most recently, the Resource Centre in 2008
