This happy photograph was sent to us from Arlene Green and is reprinted here with her permission. Arlene told us “1953. The Queen’s Coronation and Blantyre village children are having a street party. The wee girl at the front right is my mum Margaret MacFarlane. The lady behind her is Colette Orr and the lady whose face is peeking in between is my granny Williamson Bowie (known as Winnie MacFarlane). The picture was taken on Station Road, just beside the Village Bar.
