The 4th June 1949, and a steam train arrives into Blantyre Station (just off Station Road). This is apparently an excursion from Springburn, but alas, i have no other information, or indeed any reason as to why there’s a band playing on the platform.

This could have been the Juvenile Orange Order coming to Blantyre for Their annual parade in 1949
Bobby – King and Queen visited by car and in 1942. Opening of David Livingstone was much earlier in 1929. This picture is confirmed by Railway enthusiasts as being 1949 with the actual locomotive named. I’ll see if i can find more.
Are you sure the date is 1949, I notice what looks like girl guides or brownies, remember the King and Queen visited Blantyre, also the Duchess of York to open Livingstone Memorial, on these visits the local organizations were represented,
