Brown Brothers were painters and decorators, located at 222 Glasgow Road pre 2nd world war. This advert is extracted from a Blantyre Cookery book (in our possession) and features a full page advert for the decorating duo.
The book is dated 1936 and the advert reads “Nothing is too much trouble” – and whether you are giving the trouble, or our workmen are taking it, the results are equally happy. Our work may cost a little more than the cheapest, but long after the price is forgotten, the work remains. May we quote for your next job, our materials and workmen are first class – nothing is to much trouble”. I just love the telephone number, Blantyre 25. Showing just how rare and simplistic the telephone was back then.
