My father in law passed me this old newspaper last night. From 30th June 1919, the timing was apt, given its Remembrance Day today. For the edition was entirely devoted to remembering the Great War (World War I) and marked the full signing of peace at Versailles.
I hope to use some of the information in this newspaper here in future, which sets out smaller articles from the war years. Facts, figures, statistics and of course remembrance of the soldiers themselves. The articles also ‘ooze’ promise for the future, hope for a better world and desire for society to change. As Germany reset its borders, with countries getting back their lost territory officially this original newspaper from 106 years ago is a fantastic recorded summary of what happened in the First World War and the sacrifices made.

The Daily Mail’s political stance is not historically or indeed normally associated with pro-peaceful matters
