With thanks to MaryRose McGranaghan who shared this photo. Mary told me it was taken in 1932 and her dad is pictured at the front. I’ve no other information on this picture but it doesn’t look like a school photo with some of the boys appearing to be ‘workers’ in overalls, one or two carrying baskets.
I think this could be all the children from a particular block of homes. There are certainly mixed fortunes in there, with some kids faces engrained in hardship and seeing bare feet, yet others wearing good shows with brushed hair and pretty dresses.
Maybe somebody can identify the location or suggest what the photo was for?
