Neill Reid shared this photo adding, “Hi, I got this photo from my Dad’s belongings. He was Hugh Reid and is in the front row on the right. I don’t have a date for it, but judging by Dad’s age I would say it was somewhere around 1948-52.”
Do you recognise anybody? Is this Calder Street School?
I am sure this is Calder Street School and, yes, 1949 or 50. I recognise some who were in my Low Blantyre Primary School class before we divided and went to various secondary schools.
Third from left top row is definitely your predecessor, Paul, the highly regarded Neil Gordon. 2nd from left of front row of girls is, I am fairly sure, Ann Farrell. Extreme right top row is, I think, Donald MacIntosh. I think I recognise one or two others but cannot name them.
1978 I Worked in the school when it was closed for a major refurbishment which included filling in the first floor bull ring creating more floor space.
