Enhancing Images from 1900

Just a little demonstration of what’s possible when considering enhancing images. Take for example this photo. Zooming in on a random girl from a 1900 school photo of Stonefield Parish School (former Ness’ s school on Glasgow Road), the original image is fairly blurry.

Sharpening techniques enhance the photo with some detail and I can go a step further and put a little colour in it, something certainly missing from a school photo 125 years ago.

Then, using AI we can now animate the photo, to show what this little girl may have looked like when interacting with others. A little girl who not only has lived out her whole life, but her children likely too.

Who is she? I don’t know , but it is quite possible that somebody reading this is related to her.

  1. Amazing Paul!
I recall you did something similar a while ago.
May I ask what software you use and is it compatible for use on iPad?
