Battle of Stirling Bridge, 1297

Some extra content about Scotland’s history. On 11 September 1297, Scottish rebels led by William Wallace and Andrew de Moray faced a mighty English army at Stirling Bridge. Outnumbered and out-armed, the Scots used clever tactics—and the narrow bridge itself—to claim a stunning victory.

As English troops crossed the River Forth in tight formation, Wallace’s forces attacked while only half had crossed. Chaos broke out. The English were trapped between the river and the Scottish charge. Many drowned. It was a humiliating defeat for England—and a massive morale boost for the Scots.

The victory cemented Wallace’s status as a national hero and helped spark wider rebellion during the Wars of Independence.

⚔️ Could this have been Scotland’s most cunning battlefield triumph?
