On 4th August 1893, the local newspaper told of Blantyre Vics, a new football club, bringing home the cup! The Hamilton Herald wrote,
“The Blantyre Victoria Football Club have had a most successful season and have accomplished what no other Blantyre club has been able to do….bring a cup to the Village.
The Victoria, however, have not confined themselves to just one cup, but have succeeded in capturing three! The Cambuslang and District Junior, the Lanarkshire League, and the Larkhall Charity Cups. This last was won on Saturday, and the occasion made quite a stir in Blantyre. After the game at Lanark, the win was telegraphed to Blantyre, and all behind the Blantyre Brass Band marched to Hamilton and escorted the triumphant team to Blantyre to the stirring music.
At the Village in Blantyre, the conquerors were met by enthusiastic large Blantyre crowds who cheered and made it known that the best club in Lanarkshire was Blantyre Victoria. The Vics are pictured that season, the names known.
