It was back to school for Airdrie comedian, Mr Abie, on Tuesday 22nd February 1977 at he popped into High Blantyre Primary School to meet some of his young fans.
Abie found himself on the receiving end of what looks like a pretty stern lesson from young Wilma Sim. But the lesson couldn’t have been too stern as Wilma was one of the organisers of the ‘Primary 7 Mr Abie Fan Club’.
It all started off with Wilma and her friends bringing in photos of their favourite funny man and after Abie’s visit the whole class were confirmed fans. Abie suggested sending the teacher home and taking over the class. “Then I can send you lot home … laughing.” And he did.
Anybody remember this? Recognise the kids who would be in their mid to late 50s now?
