Margaret Slicer (Nee Brown) lived in High Blantyre and in this occasion pictured, she was the Blantyre Co-Operative May Gala Queen. Perhaps around 12 years old, this picture dates from the late 1930s’. The Co-op was well known to give a little back to the community, especially when it came to gala days. Such occasions were always happy and well attended.
